Product Overview

Prior Authorization API is a public API that accepts prior authorization inquiry and submission requests in the standard form of EDI X12 278X215 and EDI X12 278/217 payloads, formatted in JSON for HTTP request, and returns EDI-X12 payer response to the consumer. Our API makes prior authorization inquiry and submission more accessible to developers and allows providers systems to expand their functionality while efficiently return the payer status accurately.

Getting Started

Before you try our APIs, generate an authentication token using your client_id and client_secret. To learn more about securely using our APIs, see Prior Authorization Security and Authorization in Onboarding with Prior Authorization API. Most of our APIs are private and require credential to gain access.

Try our APIs

• For testing the APIs in the sandbox environment, you can edit the request body by using our Inquiry Sandbox Test Responses and Submission Sandbox Test Responses and send it to view a variety of responses by using a set of secure credentials provided.

• If you do not own a development platform to try or test our APIs, use our interactive Try It interface to familiarize yourself with our APIs, for example, generate a bearer token. For information, see using the Try It interface.
