The Real Dental Claim Status API enables providers to receive real-time updates on submitted claims either from Optum Real or directly from connected payers, based on the payer’s integration model to make informed decisions regarding reconciliation requests and appeals to help reduce administrative burden.
The API enables providers to query the system for payer 277 Claim Acknowledgement (277CA) using the Optum Real claim IDs, generated when dental claim submission API was invoked. Real‑time (RT)–enabled payers may return payer‑generated claim IDs and adjudication feedback immediately through 277CA responses (see the response example in the Dental Claim Actions API.
Through a single, centralized API, providers can access claim information in real-time directly from the payer through the IMN network, including:
- Retrieve claim details and status, using GraphQL API
- Retrieve real-time claim‑level and service‑level status and updates
- Connect to multiple payers
- Real-time (RT)–enabled payers may return payer‑generated claim IDs and search for the adjudication feedback through 277CA responses
